around here lately

did you know that you can resprout green onions in a bit of water?

 11:30 at night (above)

Last week brought us trips to the park, play dates with friends, story time at the library, a successful garage sale and some adventures in the kitchen.
On Saturday we finally received some nice sunny summer weather (much needed I must say) and we were able to have a garage sale. My neighbour and I organized it and made it into a community wide garage sale. It was so much fun to see all the families out and to meet some of our neighbours. We ended up making 85$ off of our old stuff and with that money we decided to take ourselves out for dinner (something we don't do often). It was a nice treat.
This past week, I gave my hand a try at making homemade pita bread and to my surprise it was a success! I'll definitely be making that more often. Living up North means that any bread that we get in the grocery store (unless made in the bakery) is made far away. Often by the time we get it, it is stale and certainly not fresh, so I've been using our bread maker quite a bit and will be making these pitas again soon.
In parenting news, last week seemed to be hard I must admit. The days were long and the rainy weather didn't help our moods. Noah seemed extra energetic, while Winslow and I were running on very little sleep. My patience was thin and something deep down was telling me that I needed a break from all the responsibilities in life, but I kept on. We don't always get breaks when we need them or want them, and that's just the way it goes. I've noticed that with the sunny weather making a return though, that we've been spending a lot more time outside and this seems to help. Noah gets out his energy and Katia loves to just sit on a blanket with a toy and be outside. Many more park dates are in our future I predict.
Well happy day to you all dear friends. I hope your week is good to you. xox

  2. Hi sweetie!
I am glad the sun is shining for you now a little. I know how hard the bad weather can be with children. I always enjoyed rainy days before, but now, with a baby, I can't just be lazy and enjoy them anymore.
Katia is sitting on her own so early! Wow.
Thank you for your sweet message. It's always so nice to hear from you...and to 'visit' you here.
    xoxo
