a sunny morning walk

26 weeks pregnant and 4 days

I spy some cranberries!

the view of our neighbourhood when walking home

This morning Winslow, Noah and I went for a walk on the trails behind our house. Believe it or not, I've been a bit afraid to go on my own as there have been so many bear warnings for our town this summer. The berries are coming out and the bears will soon be stocking up for winter, and as much as I love bears, I wouldn't want to run into one face to face while out on my own.
It's also a good thing that I brought Winslow along because the trails all seemed to move into one another, meaning I think I could've gotten lost back there if I had been on my own. Either way, it was nice to have some time with my hubs to talk about things, even if I did most of the talking. I've been really chatty lately.
Noah lasted about 5 mins into the walk before he fell asleep. He's been fighting a cold lately and I think being outside in the freshair while being pushed in his Chariot made him extra sleepy.
The walk was lovely and I was on the look out for signs of autumn. The rosehip bushes are all turning beautiful shades of deep reds and oranges and so is the fireweed. I saw some sweet little mushrooms peeking up out of the forrest floor. And the biggest excitement of all was the discovery of cranberries! I have been told about them before, but this was the first time that I have ever come across any and been able to identify them. To be safe I didn't eat them ( I wouldn't do that while pregnant) but now that I know they are there, I'm hoping to have someone more knowledgeable help me identify them and then I will go back and pick a few for the freezer. Yum...cranberry /orange muffins await us!
This discovery of cranberries seemed quite fitting today, as yesterday I picked up the latest issue of Canadian Living so that I could read a story that my cousin had written about her childhood experiences of going berry picking with my aunt and cousins. I wish I could find the link. If I do I'll post it.
Happy Thursday my friends!

  1. Your cousin's in Canadian Living? Awesome. I'm going to check it out at the drugstore tomorrow!

Love these photos, especially the one of your hand and the leaves. I think you may have found the perfect autumn banner for your blog...

You are glowing, Momma. Looking great!
What a lovely walk. I wouldn't go alone if there were bears, either...yikes!

  4. Aw, thanks for the shout out, Jo. You should ask Mum about all your berry questions when you see here in PEI. I know she'd love to talk about it. xoxo julia
