happy Easter friends!

Oh what a busy but fun day it's been. With a visit form the Easter Bunny in the morning, a wonderful and uplifting church service that Noah and I went to (the Rev. had me in tears-she always does, she's that good), and an afternoon of hosting an early supper at our house, it's been packed!
We had a few close friends over for a small turkey and ham supper at our new house this afternoon. There are still boxes to unpack and clothes to be hung, but our friends don't care about those things, all they wanted was to come over and eat! Hehehe, just kidding, they wanted to spend time with us as well. It was a great feast let me tell you, with lots of delicious food from everyone's kitchen. Knowing that we just moved in, our good friends all offered to make something for the supper and bring it, potluck style, and it was delish! Turkey, ham, 2 kinds of potatoes, roasted root veggies, green beans and two very scrumptious desserts. It was the perfect way to have a house warming party.
I have to say, I feel very lucky to have such good friends. They are like family to us and sometimes when one is so very far from their real family, it is friends like the ones that I have that make all the difference. There was a moment today when everyone was leaving that I realized, that these were all that same people that I spent Christmas with this year. It hit me all of a sudden that these friends are my family here, and I am very lucky to have them. There were a few moments today where I stopped to think about my family back home, missing them all very much. I wished that we were all sitting down together for a big family dinner, I silently said a little prayer for all of them, thinking of them all and missing them.
And so today was a lovely day. A busy one but full of wonderful memories that I will hold dear in my heart for a long time.
I leave you with pictures from the last few days. Some eggs that I dyed, pictures of Noah with his Easter loot, a picture of Noah and his friend Jack at church (Noah makes the most hilarious face when I tell him to smile for the camera), and photos of our afternoon with friends.
Hope you had a lovely day dear friends.
Happy Easter.

oh and ps. I made this delicious Berry Lemonade Punch that I included a picture of. Here is the recipe.

1 can of frozen lemonade from concentrate
3 cups of berry juice (I found a mixed berry 100% juice blend)
sliced strawberries
1 bottle of club soda
lots of ice

Put the can of frozen lemonade in your pitcher. Add your berry juice, sliced strawberries and ice. When your guests arrive add the club soda to fill the pitcher. Taste it and see if it needs sweetening. If so, add more juice.

  2. Oh wow, Noah is getting so big, and SO handsome!! I know what you mean about friends becoming family. Eryne and Neil and Scott are my family here in Vancouver. I spent Thanksgiving and Hallowe'en with Eryne and Neil, and tomorrow I'll be spending Easter. And I would have spent Xmas with them, had I been in town. You know what I think? I think we get the friends we deserve. So, you having such good friends mean that you are beyond a doubt deserving of them. :) Happy easter to you, my friend!! oxoxo

  3. The best dinners are the potluck ones in my opinion. How nice that you have a group of friends to gather with.

  6. Oh Happy Easter Monday Johanna. Wish I could have celebrated at that table--the cake looks delish!

Just when I thought Noah couldn't possibly get any cuter, you go and put a tie on him. Love his 'do too! :)
