Tomorrow is Canada Day and we have plans to celebrate in big style. We have invited a group of friends over to our place for a BBQ and also a cake reveal! The way our cake reveal is going to work is that we will be finding out the gender of the baby today (we hope). Then tonight I will be making a cake for our party tomorrow but the twist is that the inside of the cake will either be pink or blue. I first heard about this cake reveal on that crazy tv. show, The Duggars, but then more recently, a friend of mine did it to reveal her baby's gender and I thought it would be a fun way to announce it to our friends.
So big plans to celebrate the birthday of our beautiful country and hopefully reveal our baby's gender. I'll be sure to post pictures on Saturday after the cake reveal is done.
So happy Canada Day friends. I am a very proud Canadian and this holiday is one of my absolute favourites. Growing up in the Nation's Capital, I was always able to go all out for July 1st. This year will be a bit different as we won't be home for the big crowds and the excitement of Parliament Hill, but we are looking forward to celebrating Canada Day in one of the most beautiful parts of our country with our good friends.
So raise a beer, a Timmies (Tim Horton's coffee), or a jug of maple syrup and make a toast to Canada! Happy Canada Day, Canada! I love you!
I got all giddy reading your cake-reveal idea! What a great, suspenseful way to reveal the big secret! It sure puts a new twist on not being able to wait to dig in to that cake! Yummy. Can't wait to see if it's pink or blue!
ReplyDeleteSo excited! Canada Day has to include a good BBQ with friends in order to be truly celebrated :)
ReplyDeleteOh, I miss Canada Day in Ottawa.....
ReplyDeleteHooray for Canada Day! The flag is hanging off the clothesline, the boys have cute new red & white t-shirts and we're going to the big picnic at Fort Rodd Hill. Then off to the fireworks tomorrow night. Love when they light up the Empress and the Parliament Buildings...
ReplyDeleteHappy Canada Day, Jo!
PS: Excited to see a photo of that cake!
