the morning at our place-daily rhythms and routines

As many of you know, lately I've been on a bit of a kick trying to find balance and understand the rhythms and routines that take place within my family. I'm not quite sure what it is that I find so fascinating about the matter but I think it has a lot to do with wanting to create a peaceful home life for myself and my family.
So when I saw this post that my friend Desiree did on her daily routine I got quite excited. I just love reading about how others move along in their day. What they eat for breakfast, what types of things they do around the house. Tips and tricks, daily observations, special cleaning routines....yup, for some reason I just really like to hear all about it.
And so I thought I'd join along, but switch it up just a bit. For now I am going to start with our morning and then move along to the afternoon in another post. Hope you like this little look into what a typical morning looks like at our place.

Morning rhythm:

First thing is first, Noah and I get up around 6:30 (his decision not mine) and we go upstairs for breakfast and coffee (for me). While Noah eats, I sip my coffee and eat something too and I usually empty the dishwasher. We hang out in the kitchen, talk a bit and listen to the CBC while we finish up our breakfast.

Then comes books. Noah has always enjoyed reading but now he can pick out what he wants me to read to him and bring it over to me. We usually grab a selection of his favourites and get all comfy on the couch so that we can enjoy some reading time. Right now, some of Noah's absolute favourites are these...he is especially loving Eric Carle books right now.

After reading I usually get Noah dressed for the day and then he sometimes might have a midmorning nap. If he does have a nap I then jump in the shower and get ready for the day if he doesn't have a nap then he waits for me to have a shower.
While he naps I might also do a bit of painting or work on some of my craft show work. I also catch up on phone calls and emails.

Once Noah is finished his nap and we are all ready to go we might go out for a walk in our neighbourhood, visit a friend or run some errands downtown.

Then we come home for lunch at noon and settle down for the after noon.
Hope you have liked this little look into what a typical morning at our place looks like. Later on today I will show you how an afternoon at our place unfolds.
Hope you are having a fabulous day!

  1. I love the peek into your day! I have very early risers at my house too. Coffee is a must! Noah is looking so big.

  2. routine, often good if it is working but it sure can cause stress when a small boy interrupts it.

  3. Really love the sleeping photo. You'll be glad to have documented your routine as it is right now - nice to look back on later.

  4. Yay! I loved this little look into your day :)

Oh goody....I love comments!
