home again home again jiggety jig

We are back home in Hamilton after an amazing but quick trip back to Ottawa. No matter how long we are back in Ottawa for, there just doesn't seem to be enough time to see everybody or do everything that we want to do. I wish we had had more time, more time for visits with family and friends. The good news is that I will be returning to Ottawa for a month when Winslow goes to Vancouver to work the Olympics!
So now we are home and it definitely feels like a new year. We came home to our very Christmasy home and today it is all coming down. Considering that we put our tree up the last week of November I think it's had it's fair share of show time.
Now that it is the new year, we need a clean sweep. A fresh start in all kinds of ways. Starting with the house, this week we will get it back in order. What also needs a fresh start? Our diet. Its obvious to say that with Christmas comes all kinds of delicious foods, but at some point it's gotta stop. Today we did a big grocery shop with not a bit of junk food in sight. I made a meal plan for the week and am really going to work on getting us back on track with healthy foods. Things like lentil casserole, parsnip soup, beef barely soup, carrot and beet salad. I'll for sure be taking pics to show you.
So that is what's happening around here. Happy to get back into the swing of things. Looking forward to working on my new year's goals and having some routine.
To leave you here is a pic of Noah wishing he could get his hands on some of the most delicious (and the last of for a long time) desserts that we had at The Chateau Laurier yesterday. It was most delicious.

  1. Love that little Noah is trying to be so sneaky getting a bit. Whenever my 9 mo. old nephew sees a grown-up with food, he always trys to reach out and beg for some (it's quite amusing).

Are you going to be able to watch parts of the Olympics!? That sounds like so much fun!

  2. Lentil casserole has peeked my interest. I have lentils and not sure what to do with them.

  4. Thanks- it was time for a change!
I will definitely post the lentil casserole recipe once it is made (tomorrow night). Its my sister's "broke student dinner" recipe which has now made itself into "a quick and healthy go-to" meal.

  6. No, unfortunately I won't get to go :o(
He'll be working most of the time with very little time off...so I'm gonna go back to Ottawa, that way I'm not all alone for the whole month.
