I have an art idea to share and hope to be able share even more ideas over the next while to give some inspiration. Art can be such an amazing way to connect with others. It is an extension of the person who makes it and I really like how art can bring people together. To help people share with one another.
So I have a story to share with you and I promise that it ends with an art idea. Hubby plays basketball with a recreational league during the spring and I like to go along and watch. I've made friends with a spouse of one of the players on the team and enjoy catching up with her and her family every week. I also like the decaf Timmies that I get to have as a treat.
At the school where the games take place I noticed a beautiful mosaic on the wall. This mosaic frames the door way and I just loved the way it looked. So as the curious art teacher that I am, I went up close for inspection trying to figure out how it was made and realized that it had been made with paint chips (the types you get for free at Home Depot in the paint section). They had cut the paint chips up and used some kind of glue to stick them onto a grey masonite board and then covered it with a clear sealer of some type. It looked great and I really think it is the type of art project that would work well with a large group of helpers, maybe for a summer camp or a school project or maybe just a fun at home project. Above you can see the pictures of this lovely mosaic done at the Dundas Calvin Christian School. They are working with a nature motif. Sorry for my lack of details of how it might be made...these are only speculations but I'm sure you could figure it out or do some of your own research.
